LPS Corals

LPS Corals for Sale

Large polyp stony corals, commonly called LPS corals, are some of the most colorful and visually striking corals available for reef aquariums. Many LPS species combine brilliant coloration with large fleshy polyps, interesting growth forms, and movement in the aquarium.

Lucky Corals offers a constantly changing selection of LPS coral frags and colonies, ranging from affordable additions to unusual and rare specimens.

Popular Types of LPS Coral

Some of the most popular LPS corals include Torch Corals, Hammer Corals, and Frogspawn Corals, which are especially popular for their flowing polyps and movement. Other favorites include Goniopora & Alveopora, Blastomussa Corals, Acan/Micromussa, Chalice, Elegance, Plate, Trachyphyllia, and Bubble corals.

Each type has its own requirements for lighting, water flow, placement, and space, so consider the needs of the individual coral when choosing an addition to your reef.

Choosing LPS Corals for Your Reef

LPS corals vary considerably in size, growth rate, appearance, and care requirements. Some varieties are relatively forgiving, while others benefit from a mature and stable reef aquarium.

Consider available space as well as lighting and flow when selecting LPS corals. Many species expand considerably beyond their skeleton when fully open, and some can extend sweeper tentacles that may sting nearby corals.
